In order to prove the effectiveness of the smart biotechnological filter “CityTrees” in an urban environment, with regards to its ability to face air pollution improve
biodiversity and reduce heat island effects, a consortium of Green City Solutions, Proambiente and the Italian city of Modena initiate the “CityTree Scaler”, a project enabled by the support and network of
Climate-KIC Germany. The goal of this two year research project is to provide cities with a holistic solution of a smart climate infrastructure. Within this time framework starting in spring 2017, the
partners will install six CityTrees, located in the most polluted street of Modena.
